1. Ofuro tub

Woodpecker OFURO oval-shaped fiberglass tub is a perfect choice for two people. More intimacy and private relaxation for a couple. Due to its size and closed seating shape of a tub (you are not able to put or slides legs under the seats), the water capacity is smaller than in standard round tub. Thus, it takes less time to heat the water, which is additional benefit for you.

2. Prime tub

Woodpecker PRIME round-shaped fiberglass tub is a perfect choice for a family or group of friends. PRIME tub has an external heater (or stove), which does not take space from the tub comparing to Elite tub. Thus, depending on PRIME tub size selection, it is a perfect choice for 6 to 10 people. PRIME fiber glass tub shape has a closed seating, thus the water capacity is smaller than in a natural wooden round tub.

3. Elite tub

Woodpecker Elite round-shaped fiberglass tub is a perfect solution for a family and smaller group of friends. Elite tub has integrated heater (or stove) which takes out extra seats for people. However, it does not require additional space to be added outside (perfect for small yard or terrace) for the heater. Thus, depending on Elite tub size selection, it is a perfect choice for 4 to 7 people. Due to Elite’s tub shape, the water capacity is much smaller than in the same diameter of a prime tub. It allows to heat up the water much faster than in a Prime tub selection. It is recommended to think and purchase a chimney protection, since the chimney is much closer to the tub than in the PRIME tub. This is important in order to protect yourself and your guests and children from the possibility of burns and accidents around the water Tub.

Basically, Woodpecker offers 2 main types of heater: round outside and integrated heaters. There is also one more type – inside heater, but since integrated heater was invented, this inside heater is losing its popularity due to its un-comfortability.

All standard heaters are produced from ANSI 430 type of stainless steel metal. Other types, which are more corrosion and chloride resistible, are produced from ANSI 304 or ANSI 316.

1.Round outside heater

This type of heater is offered in two main sizes. Other sizes are available upon special request.

Standard size of round heater is included in any standard set of an outside heater hot tub. For the hot tub size of 78.74 inch (2 meters) diameter we recommend a standard size, which is sufficient and allows to warm up the water to desirable temperature up to 1,5 – 2,5 hours depending on a firing materials (for example dry birch is much better than wet pine logs).

Bigger round outside heater is around 4 inches bigger in diameter than a standard outside heater. This type of heater is more recommended if you choose are bigger of 86.61 (2.2 meter) diameter hot tub. Since wider diameter tub water capacity is much bigger, thus heater should be a little more powerful. Bigger type heater warms up water in 2,5 – 4,5 hours. However, customers also tend to choose a standard heater, which performs quite well and is a little bit cheaper.

Round type of heater is very convenient. It could be easily attached or removed and placed somewhere inside the shelter. It is a great choice if you afraid of metal thieves.

2.Integrated heater

Integrated heater is offered only in one size:

Integrated heater takes away some seating space from the tub. Thus, the water capacity is lower if you compare to with round heater tub. Such type of heater warms up water in a standard tub from 1,5 up to 2 hours depending on a firing material. To warm up the wider tub of 86.61 inches diameter takes a bit longer, from 2 to 4 hours.

Since a heater is integrated inside the tub, this type of heater is suggested for places where customers do not have additional space to keep the heater. It is also more convenient if you don’t like the heater to move around, especially it could be harder for people with the back trauma. On top of this, it is also a bit safer to keep this tub unattended, since this heater could not be stolen so easily.

Stainless steel of ANSI 430, 304 and 316 types metal comparison for hot tub

Standard set of hot tub includes heater (round outside or integrated) produced from ANSI 430 stainless steel metal. This type of heater is cheaper than others (ANSI 304 or 316). If your hot tub will be placed in a high humidity environment, then we strongly recommend choosing at least a heater produced from ANSI 304 stainless steel metal. We do not recommend using any chlorine with ANSI 430 type of heater.

Why 304 is better than 430?

Notably, 304 contains between 8 – 10.5% nickel whereas 430 contains 0%. The inclusion of nickel in 304 makes the metal more corrosion resistant than 430, however it is an expensive element which is one of the main reasons for the difference in cost between those two.  Any heater produced from ANSI 304 is less susceptible to corrosion affected by chloride solutions in comparison to ANSI 430.

Why 316 is better than 304?

If you would like to guarantee and avoid any corrosion, then we suggest choosing a heater produced from ANSI 316 stainless steel metal.

ANSI 316 contains a minimum 2.0% molybdenum which makes it much more corrosion resistant than 304.  A heater from ANSI 304 is more susceptible to corrosion from chloride solutions, so if you are planning to use a lot of chloride in your tub, we strongly recommend purchasing a heater manufactured from ANSI 316.

Overall, stainless steel as a family of metals is very corrosion resistant but with the addition of molybdenum into 316, this increases the grades ability to withstand harsh environments. Often referred to as marine grade, 316 is suitable for use in environments that are more aggressive than ambient.

The bottom line is that Type 316 stainless steel costs a little more upfront, but you could save a whole lot on the back end – especially if your product is going to be used outdoors, which in general, will be.

1. Air bubble system

It is a small air blower that will relax and soothe your muscles, as well as keep the water rotating and moving around your body. You can also control the air flow to regulate how intensive you want the bubbly Tub to be. This massage system is installed in the benches, seats or anywhere else of a Hot Tub.

The standard air massage system consists of:

1. 12 air-blowing nozzles;
2. Air pump 700 W;
3. Control button;
4. Connecting hoses.

2. Hydro massage system

Hydro-massage (intense water-massage) works by pumping water out of the Hot Tub and pushing it under high pressure back into the tub through the jets (it can pump up to 1.5 m3 of water per minute).  The jets are distributed in walls and create a powerful stream of moving water, providing a deep massage for your body. Our innovative jets are designed to target specific muscle groups. Enhancing your enjoyment to a higher and more massage level.

The standard Hydro massage system consists of:

1. 6 jets (in Elite tub) and 8 jets (in Prime tub);
2. Air pump 1100 W;
3. Control button;
4. Connecting hoses.
5. NEW!!! Jets have integrated LED lights. (For example – 6 jets, 6 LED lights). On special request only.

3. LED lights

A fun way to set the mood and enjoy your relaxing background is to add the underwater LED lights to your Hot Tub!  Our LED lights are specifically made for our hot tubs to allow you to get the maximum effect of illumination. Woodpecker fabricant could install as many LED lights as you want.

NEW!!! A 0,236 incehs (6 mm) narrow Neon light LED Strip around the tub brings a cosy environment in your yard. Use them to help your guests guide their way in the Hot Tub, or just for a colorful addition.

A Ritual?

The bathtub acronym was born in Japan and is known as ofuro (お風呂). The “o” before “furo” has a sense of honor and a mark of respect, it’s telling you the importance of bathing ritual. Because yes, the ofuro is a ritual, a tradition that contributes to a sense of belonging to a culturally united group of people (family or friends).

Cultural differences

While in the west, a bath (or often just a shower) is just a personal hygiene routine that is carried out quickly; in Japan it takes time, and they revel in the experience. Hot tub – it’s one of life’s pleasures.

The central element of this ritual – after water – is obviously the tub. This turns out to be slightly different from its western counterpart. It is often smaller, but deeper. Formerly, it was made of wood, but today, it’s usually stainless steel, plastic or glass fiber hot tubs. A sophisticated system allows you to set the filling time, and the water level and temperature.

Bathing in a hot tub

Before entering the tub, you must wash first.

Since you clean yourself before getting in, the water stays clean, so the bath water isn’t changing while it’s used by all household members. Thus, you don’t need any chlorine, which is not good for your skin.

How hot the water should be?

The water in the Ofuro or any other tub should be around 38-40 degrees. This high temperature helps the body relax and keep warm, and this is why people normally bathe before going to bed, as it is believed that it helps fall asleep and removes the stress from the body.
